Your Greatest Asset
A Journal Entry: Written May 1, 2017
Note: I journal to process. Never have I written anything in there ever with the intention of someone else’s eyes seeing it.
But – I stumbled across this the other day and my past self spoke needed truth over my present self. Whether you’re in a season of heavy hits that test your limits or just having a little self doubt,
perhaps you need to hear these words too.
You are your greatest asset.
It seems now more than ever that life has been about clenching your jaw. Something stupid and hurtful and costly happens and it makes your insides feel like a raisin. You cringe. You might even need to run to the bathroom or outside to cry it out. You just need a moment alone to collect yourself. The wind biting your cheek apples and turning the salt in the corners of your eyes icy with contact will help you breathe through it.
The broken heart. The lost jewelry. The awful client who speaks hateful words to you. The death of your sweet childhood pet. The stolen iPhone. It seems to come in waves lately.
But then you grow. You either get better - more you, stronger, and smarter - or - you shrink, and darling, you have never been someone who shrinks. The times you have shrunk it has hurt your heart to the core and rocked you till you feel sick inside. That’s no option. The only choice is to get better.
Girl, you are strong. Even in your weakest moments, you strength, tenacity, and determination surprises you. You stay the course, almost to a fault. You don’t let the hits get you down and when they do you stand up taller.
That’s all this is. A chance for you to stand up taller and taller and taller and taller. You are taller. You will not be defeated. Disheartened for a moment. Weakened for the short time-being. But not defeated. Just better prepared for the next obstacle you’ll face.
You are a warrior. You are your greatest asset. So put your head down and rise - fight, create, love, open, learn, and most of all – GROW.
